RailsConf Europe 2008 session on Rails software metrics

Friday, May 23, 2008

From 2 til 4 September RailsConf Europe 2008 takes place in Berlin. Organized by O’Reilly Media this conference is considered the European congres on Ruby on Rails. On this conference, attended by all big names from the Rails world, Nedforce COO Roderick van Domburg will give a presentation on how Rails software metrics can be used to measure quality.

Abstract:

“Line coverage, branch coverage, path coverage, cyclomatic complexity, code coupling, and code cohesion: they may sound as abstract terms, but don’t let that get you! There are a good many gems out there that can help you to measure these attributes of your Ruby on Rails application. We’ll teach you which and how.

Next up is interpretation of these quality measures. What are good scores and what are bad scores? Which attribute should I focus on? We’ll walk you through it and learn how to use computer science to your benefit in Ruby on Rails applications, so that you can improve Ruby on Rails software quality using recognized and most proven techniques that are out there.”

You can now also download the sheets in PDF format.
